Tomball is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and was founded in 1882 and has been named as one of the best places to live by CNNMoney.com at #11 and US News at #4 Tomball is part of Harris County and located about 30 miles northwest from Houston, Texas. Tomball got its name from Thomas Henry Ball who purchased land north of Houston in 1857 for his cattle ranching operation along Cypress Creek; he also started a shipping business on the nearby Trinity River. In 1882, Ball sold parts of his land to an Illinois businessman, Harry Williams, who then established the Tomball Townsite Company with a planned community that was to bear his name. However, townspeople misspelled the name as “Tom ball” and the name stuck forever.
Tomball is a great place to live with a rich history, good schools, nice houses at an affordable price, and other amenities such as churches, parks, libraries, and restaurants. Tomball continues its commitment to excellence in education by offering a variety of educational programs from pre-school through college-level classes.
