Tanglewood, in Houston, Texas (TX) is a community that was originally settled in the year 1891.
At this time Tanglewood was an area of land about nine miles from downtown Houston. It all started when a man named Jesse H. Jones began to purchase large plots of land in the rural areas outside of the city to build houses for his friends and himself. He built many homes there and eventually, other people moved into Tanglewood as well so he decided to develop it more by establishing schools, churches, and banks there.
In 1933, The Great Depression swept through America leaving almost everyone poor and unemployed with no money. Jesse H. Jones again came to save Tanglewood by creating jobs specifically for builders who were having a hard time finding work. This helped Tanglewood grow even more and become a great place to live for many families. Tanglewood continued to prosper and in 1947, it was incorporated into the city of Houston by a vote of its residents.
Today, Tanglewood is a strong community that stands on its own two feet. It has been one of Houston’s most prestigious neighborhoods since it was first developed and will continue to delight its inhabitants for years to come. There are still beautiful homes being built there along with several options for entertainment ranging from shopping centers, restaurants, theaters, parks, where people can get out and enjoy themselves while also supporting local businesses at the same time!
Also, Tanglewood is one of Houston’s Historical Districts so it has many historical homes and buildings that were built during the period it was first established. There are three wonderful museums located within Tanglewood as well which allow people to explore their rich history even further!
Getting around Tanglewood is fun because most residents get around by golf carts or bikes! This allows them to see all that there is to offer in Tanglewood without having to go too far. Also, people who live in this area do not have to drive very often because most places they would like for entertainment can be reached on foot since they are all located close together. It’s easy to see the developments that have made it into what it is today, all because of one man’s love for providing a place where people could have fun and relax after working hard.
